The Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola says he will know early next week if either Thierry Henry or Andrés Iniesta will be fit enough to start the Champions League final. The early signs from the medical staff were that both would be ready, Henry "by the skin of his teeth", but Guardiola remains cautious over their recovery.

Henry has been sidelined with a ligament problem he picked up in the 6–2 win at Real Madrid earlier this month, while Iniesta injured his thigh in the 3–3 draw with Villarreal two weeks ago.

At 13.00 Monday afternoon, MotoGP rider Sete Gibernay underwent successful surgery, performed by Doctors Xavier Mir and Ignacio Ginebreda at the Dexeus Institue in Barcelona, to secure a transversal displaced fracture to the middle of his collarbone.

The injury was sustained in a crash during the second free practice session for the Grand Prix de France on Saturday. Doctors are hopeful that he will be able to resume sporting activity within four weeks. The Grupo Fransisco Hernando team management will make a decision over his involvement in the Catalunya GP in due course.

He was known to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee, but on May 17 former heavyweight boxing champ Muhammad Ali was in Allentown to be honored by Muhlenberg College.

Muhlenberg will award honorary doctoral degrees to Ali, Galway Kinnell and Kathleen A. McGinty at its 161st commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. on the College Green. Ali, born Cassius Marcellus Clay, was an international lightning rod and colorful heavyweight champion boxer in the 1960s, '70 and '80s. In 1999, Ali was crowned "Sportsman of the Century" by Sports Illustrated.
